I'll never forget the way his eyes lit up when I insulted his favorite football team. I was helping at a soup kitchen and my job was to sit with the men and women and just talk to them while they ate.
I love this picture because it reminds me to wonder more, to access the curiosity that ran unchecked as a child but got quieter as a busy adult life took over. I'm not criticizing myself or others for having busy lives – I could walk around admiring nature all day, but then my kids wouldn't get fed. Of course there has to be balance.
